The classifications for archers are:-

These classifications are awarded for scores shot in Outdoor Target, Indoor Target,
Field, Clout and Flight competitions.
To attain a classification an archer has to shoot 3 qualifying scores in a 12 month
period.
Once qualified as Third Class, that archer is awarded the classification badge with the
insert for the type of discipline shot, eg. Target or Field, etc.
The next classification is Second Class, then First Class and on up to Grand Master Bowman
class. Each classification class is more difficult to attain than the previous, as the
distances required to be shot increase and the scores required also increase.
Third, Second and First Class badges are only awarded once to an archer.
Master Bowman and Grand Master Bowman badges are awarded on a yearly basis and to maintain
qualification, the required scores must be shot each year.
The section 'Archer Classification' in the Archery Australia Rule Book gives full details
of the rules covering qualifications. The 'Classification Tables' state the required
ratings for each class and the 'Rating Tables' give the required score for each round.
(To cover all the rules and tables, it would require another Web Site ! )

The Veteran Division is for archers who are 50+ years old.
In competitions, each archer would compete against other archers in their age
and bow type divisions as listed above.
It is usual for First, Second and Third place to be awarded in each division.
Trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd. and 3rd. place archers at inter-club
competitions listed on the S.Q.A.S. Calender.
Medals may be awarded instead of trophies depending on the Tournament Committee.
On the S.Q.A.S. Calender is listed the Silver Arrow events for target, field
and clout.
The archer who shoots the most improved score from their previous score in that event is
awarded the 'Silver Arrow' pin. Each pin has either target, field or clout stated on it.
There are several types of badges awarded.
FITA badges are awarded for shooting a score of 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300
and 1400 in a FITA
Target competition.
Six Gold badges are awarded for shooting all 6 arrows of an end into the Gold zone of the
target face during a competition. Each badge has an insert for the distance shot
in metres.
Perfect End (60) badges are awarded for shooting all 6 arrows of an end into the 10
scoring zone of the target face. Each badge has an insert for the distance shot
in metres.
Similar badges are also awarded for perfect ends in Field and Clout competitions.
Each archery round has a record score that has been shot in each age and bow
type division.
There are Club level records, State level records, National level records, International
level and Olympic level records.
If an archer shoots a score that betters the existing record score in a competition, they
are awarded a Record Certificate.
